There are different terms of abortion.
- Spontaneous abortion - An abortion due to an accidental trauma or natural causes. Due to incorrect replication of chromosomes or environmental factors.
- Induced abortion- Termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival.
- Therapeutic abortion - Performed when a woman's pregnancy endangers her health.
- Elective abortion- Abortion performed for any other reason.
